Ice Tycoon 2 beginner walkthrough — factory setup and early progression

Full factory build from tutorial plates through early upgraders, mine unlock, and tool progression in Ice Tycoon 2.

What Is Ice Tycoon 2?

Ice Tycoon 2 is a Roblox ice factory tycoon by Slized Games. The official page describes the game as: "Freeze water and melt it for profit! Upgrade your tools and machines!" Ice Tycoon 2 Roblox players build water lines, droppers, and conveyors, then sell melted ice at the lava pit for Cash.

Unlike Ice Tycoon 1, Ice Tycoon 2 emphasizes water management, five hidden gems (+5% permanent income each), rebirth, and two endings. This guide covers day-one factory setup only — gem routes live on the gems guide and badges on the 100% guide.

Play via the official Roblox experience on PC, mobile, or console. Join the Slized Games group for update announcements. Ice Tycoon 2 is live as of July 2026.

Core Loop — Freeze, Melt, Upgrade

The Ice Tycoon 2 loop: collect water with your tool → pour into the cooling line → Water Dropper freezes it into ice → Conveyor moves ice to the lava pit → ice melts for Cash → step on green upgrade plates to buy machines and upgraders → repeat until rebirth.

Your factory runs partially on autopilot after the tutorial, but early income is slow because you still scoop water by hand. Reinvest every Cash payout into conveyors and the Lava Upgrader before decorative areas. The tier list ranks which upgraders pay back fastest on limited Cash.

Water is a limited resource — upgrade from the free Spoon (2 capacity) to Cup ($300, 6 capacity) as soon as the Shopkeeper unlocks. See the full tools table for Canteen and Bucket prices.

Mid-game plates add Coolant (less water per cycle), Conveyor Expander (another dropper lane), and the mine for ore income. Late factory wings introduce Automator workers and Mcrafter automation — both sit after your Lava Upgrader is online.

Tutorial & First Green Plates

Every Ice Tycoon 2 save starts at a water spout with the free Spoon. The in-game tutorial walks you through scooping water, placing your first Water Dropper, and building a Conveyor toward the lava sell pit. Follow every green pressure plate in order — skipping a plate can stall income until you backtrack.

Harvest ice manually at first: wait for the dropper to freeze a block, collect it, and place it on the belt. Once the conveyor reaches the lava pit, ice sells automatically and Cash ticks up. That first sale confirms your loop is working.

Tutorial plates are intentionally cheap. Buy Conveyor extensions before cosmetic path plates — paths look nice but do not raise income. If a plate price feels high, farm one more lava sell cycle and return.

When the tutorial ends, open the Shopkeeper menu near your factory. Cup at $300 is the first out-of-tutorial purchase most routes recommend. Cross-check machine names on the Ice Tycoon 2 wiki if a plate label looks unfamiliar.

First Hour — Shopkeeper & Heat Crystals

The Shopkeeper sells water tools and Heat Crystals. Heat crystals float behind your back and prevent freezing in cold zones — Lvl 1 ($250) covers -10°, Lvl 2 ($1,000) covers -20°, up to Lvl 4 ($10,000) for -40° zones.

For your first hour, prioritize Cup then Conveyor expansions over heat crystals unless you are entering cold map areas early. Heat crystals matter more when hunting gems in the hotel or castle mountain.

Frozen Magma (hotel 4th floor) is required for Gem 1 — pick it up only when you are ready to jump into your main lava pit. It grants one minute of lava immunity (not in the Rebirth Dimension). Full Gem 1 steps: gems guide.

Once Cup is equipped, scoop cycles shorten noticeably. Canteen ($1,500, 12 capacity) is the next Shopkeeper milestone when Cash income stabilizes. Bucket ($6,000, 20 capacity) waits until mid-game gem routes or Drought badge prep.

Early Machines & Upgraders

After the tutorial, Ice Tycoon 2 opens machine and upgrader plates across your factory. Lava Upgrader is the highest-impact pick — it enhances each ice block right before the lava sale. Most beginner routes buy it immediately after the first conveyor expansion.

Coolant reduces water burned per freeze cycle. Pair Coolant with Cup or Canteen so you are not running back to the spout every minute. Ice Upgrader buffs mid-line production; pick it up once Lava Upgrader is online and Cash flow is steady.

Conveyor Expander plates add another dropper lane — treat them as production upgrades, not belt cosmetics. Saw adds a multiplier station on the ice line; it is a mid-game luxury after Coolant stabilizes.

The mine unlocks as its own zone (commonly near $5,000 on early saves — confirm on your green plate). Ore on belts adds secondary income and hides Gem 2 in a back-left secret rock. See mine area for the gem pit location.

When to Leave the Main Factory

Once Cash income is steady, explore the mine (Gem 2), hotel (Gems 1 and 4), secret rain zone (Gem 3), and castle mountain (Gem 5). Each gem permanently adds +5% income. Insert all five into the wall slot to unlock the Gem Upgrader.

The Abandoned Factory repair unlocks the Up and Running badge. Trophies from challenges gate laboratory upgrades and reset on rebirth — plan trophy runs before your first rebirth if you rely on lab buffs.

Income before secrets still wins: each gem gives +5%, but a working conveyor + Lava Upgrader line pays for the gear you need to reach them. Most players grab Gem 1 and Gem 2 during the same session they unlock the mine.

Pre-Rebirth Checklist for Beginners

Rebirth resets your tycoon progress for permanent multipliers and rebirth upgrades. Both End 1 and End 2 require multiple rebirth runs — see the 100% guide before your first reset.

Before rebirth, most Ice Tycoon 2 beginners aim for: all five gems inserted (+25% permanent income), Lava Upgrader and Coolant rebought quickly on the new tree, and at least one trophy gate cleared if you use laboratory buffs.

End 1 needs five rebirths with an Item Merchant purchase after the 4th rebirth. End 2 needs four rebirth upgrades with no merchant buys (troops are allowed) plus a Heat Crystal for the final jumpscare sequence. Plan End 1 first while Cash multipliers are high.

Codes do not replace this grind — no verified active Ice Tycoon 2 codes as of July 2026. Track status on the codes page. IT1 codes do not work in IT2.

  • Do01Insert all five gems → +25% permanent income
  • Do02Unlock Gem Upgrader via wall slot
  • Do03Repair Abandoned Factory → Up and Running badge
  • Do04Note End 1 vs End 2 merchant rules before rebirth
  • Do05Re-buy Lava Upgrader first on fresh rebirth tree
